Black Bears, once a rarity in Connecticut, are becoming quite common. When they venture into densely populated areas our officers are called to capture and relocate them. This is for the safety of the public as well as the bears. Our Chemical Immobilization Unit has officers posted throughout the state, so a dart gun is usually nearby.
